In order to prevent deterioration of indoor air quality, it is needed to install a suitable ventilation facility equipped with heat recovery devices. In this study, the heat recovery ventilator was developed using a concept of pulsating heat pipe (PHP). Air flow rate was 300-1200 CMH, and its frontal air velocities were 0.5-1.5 m/s. The heat pipe type heat exchanger was serpentine type and it was composed of extruded flat aluminum tube with 6 channels (2.5 × 2.75 ㎜) and louvered fin. The heat transfer area was 9.05 ㎡, working fluid was R-134a and charging ratio (Φ) was 40% in volumetric. Heat recovery rate and pressure drop, j-factor, f-factor were major concern of this study. As a result, heat recovery rate was 1140 W(Φ : 40%, air velocity: 1.5 m/s). Also, the performance of heat exchanger was evaluated by using j-factor and f-factor method.
