제주 MICE 산업 활성화 전략 방안 연구: 제주국제컨벤션센터를 중심으로 텍스트마이닝 분석 적용

A study on strategies to revitalize the Jeju MICE industry: Text mining analysis focused on the Jeju International Convention Center

요약: MICE 산업은 사람과 정보의 흐름을 목적으로 국제행사를 유치하는 산업인데, 코로나19 팬데믹 사태로 행사의 취소 및 무기한 연기되면서 큰 타격을 받았다. 지자체 간의 MICE 산업 육성 및 유치 경쟁이 치열해지고 있고 제주국제컨벤션센터 제2센터 건립 추진 등 제주 MICE 산업의 전환됨이 될 것으로 보이는 시점에서 제주 MICE 산업의 활성화 방안에 관한 연구와 방향성 제시가 필요한 상황이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 제주의 MICE 산업을 활성화하기 위해 제주 MICE 산업을 리뷰하였고, 2019년부터 2022년까지 4년간 소셜 미디어 전체 18,881건의 문서(8,947KB)에서 데이터를 수집하여 나타난 제주 MICE와 관련된 빅데이터를 해석하여 제주 MICE 산업에 대한 전반적인 인식을 종합적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 제주 MICE의 중요한 속성들을 확인하였고 제주국제컨벤션센터와 관련 있는 장소(제주, 유니크베뉴)와 목적(컨벤션, 국제)과 같은 단어를 통해, 유니크베뉴, 제주, 국제, 컨벤션, 컨벤션뷰로가 제주 MICE 산업의 중추적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 연구 결과를 토대로 제주 MICE 산업을 활성화하기 위한 제2센터인 MICE 다목적 시설 확충과 이를 통한 제주만의 특색 있는 MICE 행사개최가 필요하다는 실무적 시사점을 제시하였다.

Abstract: The MICE industry, which attracts international events to facilitate the flow of people and information, has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when competition among local governments to strengthen their MICE efforts is intensifying, and the Jeju MICE industry is expected to be transformed by the construction of the 2nd Jeju International Convention Center, research and direction are needed. To this end, this study comprehensively analyzed the overall perception of the Jeju MICE industry by analyzing big data, collecting data from 18,881 documents (8,947KB) over four years from 2019 to 2022. As a result of the study, the important properties of Jeju MICE were identified, and it was found that words such as places (Jeju, unique venue) and purposes (convention, international) played a pivotal role. Based on the research results, this study presents practical implications for the need to expand MICE multi-purpose facilities and to hold unique MICE events in Jeju.
