Borazine derivatives were reacted with divinyldisilazane via hydroboration reactions. The synthe-sized liquid polymer with a ca. 70 % ceramic yield changed to an insoluble solid after crosslinking reactions of the unreacted vinyl groups to the B-C alkyl bridges between the borazine ring and vinylsilazane as post-heated from 200 to 600 oC. The insoluble solid was then transformed to SiCN and BN amorphous structures when py-rolyzed to 1400oC. The process of the synthetic and ceramic conversion was thoroughly investigated by infra-red, 1H, 11B, 13C, and 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis.
