이 연구에서는 함평 진양리 각골유적에서 발견된 고인돌의 암석학적 특징과 산지를 해석하였다. 각골유적 고인돌은 장축길이 356 cm, 단축길이 188 cm, 두께 48 cm, 무게는 약 9.5톤이며 전체적으로 석영안산암질 용결응회암으로 구성되어 있다. 각골고인돌과 추정산지 암석들의 전암대자율, 암석학적, 광물학적, 지구화학적 및 지형적 특징으로 볼 때, 이 고인돌은 각골유적에서 북동쪽으로 약 3.5~4.5 km 정도 떨어진 함평 대동댐과 저수지 인근의 암석과 가장 유사하다. 이 결과는 고고학적 자료와 함께 고인돌의 운반과정 및 이동경로를 유추하여 당시의 석재를 이동하기 위해 동원하였던 경제력, 정치력, 기술력 등을 해석하는데 필요한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
We carried out lithological characteristics and provenance interpretation of dolmen which discovered Gakgol remains of Jinyangri in Hampyeong. The scale of Gakgol Dolmen is 188 cm long, 356 cm wide and thickness of 48 cm, the weight of the stone is about 9.5 ton. The rock is consisted mainly of dacitic welded tuff. It is probable that the Gakgol Dolmen, considering magnetic susceptibility, petrological, mineralogical, geochemical properties and geomorphology, was similar to rocks around the Daedong Dam and Reservoir located about 3.5 to 4.5 km distant in the northeast. The present study will offer signification data for interpretation of people"s technology, economic and political power in the age, and suggest to transportation process and route for stone with archaeological data.
