본고는 서술 문체론적 접근을 통해 <현몽쌍룡기>의 서술 문체적 특질과 의미를 논의하는 것을 목적으로 한다. <현몽쌍룡기>의 어휘․문장의 서술양상에서는 다른 장편 가문소설에서처럼 상층의 언어적 표현을 반영하여 가문의 화합과 번창이라는 중심담론을 강화하고 있다는 점을 알 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 중심담론과 상치되는 지점을 대화의 서술양상에서 발견할 수 있다. 여기서 외형적인 가문 중심주의의 이면에 함의된 모순된 지점을 지적하고 문제점을 드러내는 목소리가 상존하게 된다. 이 때문에 <현몽쌍룡기>는 가문 중심주의라는 지배담론과 이 지배담론과 길항하는 저항담론에서 나타나는 이면적인 의미로 인해 중층적인 텍스트로 읽을 수 있다. 또한 어휘․문장의 서술양상이나 묘사나 사건의 서술양상에서는 <현몽쌍룡기>의 대중성이나 상품성을 의도한 전략적인 서술이 빈번하게 나타난다. 친숙한 서술 문체를 활용하여 텍스트에 대한 가독성을 높임으로써 대중성을 확보하고, 한편으로는 해학적 사건을 서술하여 독자의 웃음을 유발하여 상품성을 확보하려는 시도도 엿볼 수 있다.
The purpose of this study lies in the discussion of the style characteristics and definitions within HyunMongSSangYongGi through narrative stylistics methods. In the narrative aspect perspective of vocabulary and sentence, similar to its likes in the sphere of feature-length family novels, HyunMongSSangYongGi fortifies its main discourse of domestic concord and prosperity by resonating transcendant linguistic expressions. The confrontation to such a discourse is unearthed from the narrative aspects of the dialogues. Here lies persistently a voice that indicates the controversial point innate to family-centrism. For such, within HyunMongSSang YongGi lies a layered text, embracing both the main discourse and its opposing discourse. Moreover, the narrative aspects of vocabulary and sentence, description, and event, show the intended strategic narration for popularity and marketability of HyunMongSSangYongGi.
