본 연구의 목적은 대학 차원에서 이루어지는 노인교육프로그램의 효과성을 검증하여 성공적 노화를 위한 교육개입의 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 조사대상자는 알파벳해독이 가능한 60세 이상의 노인 중 프로그램 참여율이 80% 이상이고, 교육 실시 이전과 이후 응답을 한 71명의 노인이 실험집단으로 구성되었고, 프로그램이 진행되는 동안 교육을 받지 않은 노인 58명이 비교집단에 포함되었다. 실험집단은 교육프로그램을 실시한 후, 생활만족도, 우울감소, 노인태도 변화를 조사하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 실험집단 내에서 생활만족도 향상, 우울감소, 노인태도의 긍정적 변화가 나타났다. 둘째, 비교집단 내에서는 생활만족도와 노인태도에서 변화는 없었으나 우울은 유의미한 감소현상을 보였다. 셋째, 집단간 비교에서는 실험집단에서 생활만족도, 노인태도 변화가 유의하였다. 그러나 우울감소는 비교집단에서 유의미하게 나타났다. 넷째, 실험집단 내에서 인구사회학적 변인에 따른 차이검증에서 학력과 경제력이 높을수록 우울감소와 긍정적 노인태도 변화가 있었다. 결국, 노인교육개입은 생활만족도, 우울감소, 노인태도의 변화를 통하여 노인의 삶의 질 향상을 이루고 나아가 성공적 노화를 촉진하게 될 것으로 기대된다. 연구결과를 근거로 향후 대학은 사회경제적 지위가 높은 노인을 위한 평생교육 제공기관으로 자리매김할 필요가 있다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the elderly education programs held by community university to lead them to successful aging. We surveyed elderlies older than 60 years old who were able to read English alphabets and had attended at least 80 % of the programs. 71 elderlies who answered our questions before and after the education were the experimental group and 58 elderlies who did not participate in the programs were the comparative group. We examined how their life satisfaction, degree of depression and their attitude toward life varied after the education among the experimental group. The followings are the results.1)There was a significant positive change in their life satisfaction, depression, and attitude in the group which participated in the education. 2)There was no remarkable change in their life satisfaction and attitude in the non-participated, but their degree of depression decreased. 3) in the comparison of the two group, there was positive difference in life satisfaction, depression and attitude in the group which participated in the education, but in non-participated group, their degree of depression decreased. 4) In the group which participated in, the more educated they are, the higher their economic lever was, the more positively their degree of depression and attitude changed. As shown above, we should say that the elderly education programs can lead the elderly to their better life and successful aging. On the basis of our results, we could say that community university enforce their role of providing more elderly education programs for them, especially for those who have socially and economically high status.
