片片奇談警世歌와 萬古奇談處世歌의 출판 배경과 텍스트 지향

The Publishing Background and Text Intention of "Pyeonpyeongidamgyeongsega" and "Mangogidamcheosega"

편편기담경세가는 1908년 보문사에서, 만고기담처세가는 1914년 신구서림에서 활자본으로 출판되었다. 이 두 가사집은 초당문답 계열로, 후일경계록, 초당문답, 벽계언집과 같은 대표적 이본들이 필사본으로 많이 향유되었던 데 비해, 두 이본은 연활자 인쇄 방식에 따른 대량 생산·대량 유통의 근대적 서적 유통 환경 안에서 출판된 텍스트이다. 상업적 이윤 추구를 목적으로 좀 더 많은 독자층의 흥미를 자극할 필요성에 따라, 당대의 인기 키워드로 다양한 출판물에서 사용된 ‘기담’이라는 어휘를 표제 안에 포함시켰다. 만고기담처세가의 경우는 독자층의 흥미 유도에 더 적극적으로 임해, 당시 독서시장에서 인기를 끌었던 소설의 서술 기법을 본뜨기도 한다. 문장체 소설 문투, 서술자발화와 인물발화의 명확한 구분 등이 시도되는데, 이는 여타 초당문답 계열과는 사뭇 다른 사설 양상을 보여준 것이다. 상업적 이윤 추구를 위해 독자층의 흥미 유도를 고려했다는 점에서 편편기담경세가와 만고기담처세가는 동일한 텍스트 지향을 보인다. 하지만 이 두 가사집은 출판 시기 및 그에 따른 텍스트 산출 환경의 차이 때문에, 전체적인 텍스트 지향은 다르게 파악된다. 편편기담경세가의 경우 1908년 보문사라는 천도교 계열 출판사에서 발간되어, 애국계몽기 및 천도교 담론의 특성을 보인다. 일본에 대한 비판, 여성 교육 및 문명, 독립의 강조 등 사회적 警世 지향의 텍스트 특성이 이에 해당한다. 그에 비해 만고기담처세가는 1914년에 발간되어 일제강점기 담론의 특성을 보인다. <역대편>의 우리 역사 배제, <사군편>의 누락 등 개인적 處世 지향의 텍스트 특성이 이에 해당한다.

‘Pyeonpyeongidamgyeongsega"(편편기담경세가) was published by Bomunsa in 1908. And ‘Mangogidamcheosega"(만고기담처세가) was published by Singuseorim in 1914. These texts were different version of ‘Chodangmundab"(초당문답) like ‘Huilgyeonggyerok"(후일경계록), ‘Byeokgyeunjib"(벽계언집). They were published in environment of modern publication that was producted and consumed in large quantities. It was necessary to stimulate interest in the reader for pursuit of profits. Therefore the word of gidam(strange story) was included in title. Also, ‘Mangogidamcheosega" was influenced by novel. The novel have gained in popularity with the mass of people at that time. There is difference between the two. ‘Pyeonpyeongidamgyeongsega" was published by Bomunsa in the period of patriotic enlightenment. Bomunsa was the publishing company that have some connection with the Cheondo religion. Therefore there were acute criticism against Japanese, the education of women, civilization and independence in ‘Pyeonpyeongidamgyeongsega". ‘Pyeonpyeongidamgyeongsega" was aimed at social criticism. ‘Mangogidamcheosega" was published in Japanese Colonial Period. Therefore Korean history was expurgated in ‘Yeokdaepyeon"(역대편). ‘Mangogidamcheosega" was constructed except ‘Sagunpyeon"(사군편).
