사고확장을 촉진시키는 총체적 언어접근법이 지적장애 아동의 문장 확장 능력에 미치는 영향에 대한 질적 분석

Qualitative Analysis of the Effects of the Whole Language Approach Which Prompts Extended Thinking on Sentence Extension Abilities of Children with Intellectual Disorders

본 연구는 사고확장을 유발하는 총체적 언어접근법이 발달장애 아동과 정신지체 아동의 언어사용능력에 미치는 영향을 질적으로 분석하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구 대상은 경기도 Y시 Y초등학교 특수학급의 발달장애 아동 1명과 정신지체 아동 1명이었으며, 7회기 간 진행되었다. 그림 그리기와 만들기에 흥미가 많은 대상 학생들은 언어능력 수준에 따른 작은 책 만들기 총체적 언어활동을 통하여 문장 구성 능력 향상에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 회기별 아동의 언어능력을 관찰 및 포트폴리오한 결과를 분석하여 질적 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생활 중심 교육과정인 바른생활교과와의 교과통합에 의한 총체적 언어학습은 대상아동의 언어능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 아동의 언어능력 수준에 따른 작은 책 만들기의 총체적 언어활동은 미숙한 언어능력 학생의 사고 확장에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 아동이 좋아하고 흥미 있게 접근하는 작은 책 만들기의 총체적 언어활동은 문장구성능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다.

The current study was implemented to analyze if the whole language approach, which prompts extended thinking, played a positive role for children with intellectual disorders on their language skills. With the research purpose, the qualitative research method was selected. A child with developmental disorders and a child with mental retardation from Y elementary school located in Y-si, Gyeonggi-do, were participated for 7 periods. The findings represent that the specific whole language approach with making a book plays a positive and active role on their capabilities of structuring sentences. The subjects" language skills were qualitatively analyzed by outcomes from observation and their portfolio The results have been divided into three sections. First, the integrated subject (the subject: ethics) approach with whole language teaching process effects positively on their language abilities. Second, the findings represents that making a story book with the whole language approach seems to be one of positive teaching methods for the subjects. Last, the teaching method with making a story book played an important and positive role on their capabilities of structuring sentences since the subjects show pay a good attention and enjoy activities related to painting and manufacturing things.
