The Tajikistan cinema, born in 1929, celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. The purpose of this study is to define and identify the development of Tajikistan cinema. Tajikistan cinema has a special place in Central Asian film history. In Soviet film history, Tajikistan cinema achieved a unique aesthetic achievement, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union Tajikistan film industry collapsed. This paper describes Tajikistan cinema history in major stages of development. The history of Tajikistan cinema from the birth of Tajikistan in 1929 to the 1960s was briefly described in this paper. Tajikistan cinema was commercially successful in the 1970s and 1980s, but on the other hand, it lost the aesthetic qualities of previous periods. Nevertheless, several masterpieces appeared during this period, including Abdullahev Rahimov"s «A Short Meeting at Long Wars» (1975). The Tajikistan cinema from 1986 to 2000 was diverse in style, and the art-house cinema both faithfully reflect the situation of the times. Especially during this period, Tajikistan cinema was divided into domestic films and films “in exile”. Also worth noting is the work of a new generation of Tajikistan film directors, who have appeared since mid-2010. They study in Russia, follow Hollywood-style films, or inherit the film traditions of Iran and Iraq. Tajikistan cinema is currently looking for a way, with the emergence of a new generation of directors, changes in the filmmaking environment, and the launch of an international film festival, that serves as a platform for introducing Tajikistan films abroad. It is necessary to pay attention to Tajikistan cinema, which inherits the great Soviet film aesthetics, but combines the unique features of the Middle East.
타지키스탄 영화는 중앙아시아 영화 역사에서도 독특한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 소련 영화사에서 타지키스탄 영화는 독특한 미학적 성취를 이루었으나, 연방 붕괴 이후 타지키스탄의 영화 산업은 붕괴되었다. 본 논문에서는 타지키스탄의 영화 역사를 주요 발전 단계별로 나누어서 서술하였다. 1929년 타지키스탄 영화 탄생 이후 1960년대까지의 타지키스탄 영화 역사에 대해서는 비교적 간략하게 서술하였다. 1970-1980년대 타지키스탄 영화는 상업적으로 성공을 거두었지만, 다른 한편으로는 이전 시기의 영화 미학적인 특징들을 상실한 시기이기도 하다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 압둘라예프 라히모프 감독의 «긴 전쟁의 짧은 만남» (1975)을 비롯한 몇 편의 걸작들이 이 시기에 등장했다. 1986년부터 2000년까지의 타지키스탄 영화는 스타일상으로 다양했으며, 이른바 작가예술영화로서 극영화와 다큐멘터리 모두 시대의 모습을 충실히 반영했다. 특히 이 시기에 타지키스탄 영화는 국내 영화와 망명 영화로 나뉘게 되었다. 2010년 중반부터 등장한 새로운 세대의 타지키스탄 영화감독들의 작품도 주목할 만 하다. 이들은 러시아에서 유학했거나, 할리우드 스타일의 영화를 추종하거나, 혹은 이란, 이라크의 영화적 전통을 계승하고 있다. 새로운 세대의 감독 등장, 영화 제작 환경의 변화, 그리고 타지키스탄 영화를 해외에 소개하는 플랫폼이 되는 국제영화제의 개최 등으로 현재 타지키스탄 영화는 활로를 모색하고 있다. 위대한 소비에트 영화 미학을 계승하면서도 중동의 영화적 특징을 결합하고 있는 독특한 양식을 내세우는 타지키스탄 영화를 학문적으로, 그리고 영화 산업적으로 주목할 필요가 있다.
