Database Information Acquisition Using REST Web Service

Today’s online portal companies tend to provide their service information using Open API and Web service, giving up their previous notion of exclusivity. They use REST architectural style rather than SOAP architectural style for their web service format. However, there are limits in acquiring information with the current REST web service using URL. Specifically, the current REST Web Service system for searching table, record and field values managed in RDBMS is not much effective and organized, thus making access to RDBMS information limited and the transaction time longer. Considering such things, this study seeks to propose and design REST architectural style based web service system that helps to effectively and more simply provide RDBMS information by matching URL and RDBMS structure. In addition, this study attempts to realize the prototype system through Java-based Restlet library and compares it with the existing RDBMS approach.

최근의 포털 업체들은 폐쇄적이었던 자사의 서비스 정보를 Open API와 웹 서비스를 이용하여 제공하는 추세에 있으며, 웹 서비스의 형태로서 SOAP 방식보다는 REST 방식을 활용하고 있다. 그러나 현재의 URL을 이용한 REST 웹 서비스는 정보를 얻는 방법에 제약 사항이 있다. 특히, 현재의 REST 웹 서비스는 RDBMS에서 관리되는 테이블, 레코드 그리고 필드 값 정보를 검색하는 방법이 체계적이지 않아서 RDBMS의 정보 접근이 제한적이며 트랜잭션의 수행시간이 길어지는 단점을 갖고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 URL과 RDBMS의 구조를 매칭하여 간단하고 효율적으로 RDBMS의 정보를 가져올 수 있는 REST 방식의 웹 서비스 시스템을 제안하고 설계한다. 또한 Java 기반의 Restlet 라이브러리를 통하여 프로토타입 시스템을 구현하고 구현된 시스템을 기존의 RDBMS의 접근 방식과 비교한다.
