Study on the Aspects of Creativity Scoring in the Writing Assessment of Information Text

This article takes up the problem of rating practices in the creativity scoring of information texts, based on the think-aloud method, discourse analysis, and interviews with 8 teachers as the raters. And this paper considers various features of creativity scoring in the writing assessment of information texts and tries to reveal the effective method of creativity scoring. It concludes by suggesting that teachers have to consider the consensual technique for assessing creativity. The consensual method can be validly extended to such samples. And it suggests that teachers have to consider the criteria of creativity scoring and the method to use the criteria. The discussion relates the teachers’ scoring strategy, the understanding of the criteria, and the method to use the criteria in the writing assessment of the information text. Based on these findings, it suggests several new approaches to assessment of writing, and raises issues to be considered in these approaches.
