일제식민지시기 황신덕의 현실인식과 운동노선의 변화양상

Whang Shin-Dug’s awareness of a reality and change of movement route in the Japanese Colonial Period

This study is about Whang Shin-Dug. The purpose of this study is understanding one of the intellectuals’ way of problem solving through their change of perception and respond to reality in the Japanese Colonial Period. She was brought up in the Christian faith. But during studying in Japan, she was influenced by socialism and socialist. She made more personal connections with them and carried on even after homecoming. She regarded socialism as means of independence movement to resist on Japan’s rule. So she wanted and tried to participate in women’s socialist group after returning home. But she witnessed socialists’ division and was disgusted with their fighting. It needed sorely unification and cooperation. At that time, unified cooperation front was raised from social consensus. So Korean female intellectuals including christian, nationalist and socialist organized Korean women’s concorporate and called it Geunuhoe. She made an important role in Geunuhoe. She considered it as something very meaningful to practice Korean feminine movement. After inactivation of Geunuhoe, she was participated in kinds of an Korean women’s fraternal society and wrote for a newspaper and a magazine to develop enlightenment of Korean women. She considered the betterment in Life Environment as way of contribution to improve the status of women. After all she concluded from her career that female education was urgent and effective to improve Korean female status at that circumstance. So she founded girls’ school. But she made a big mistake to go on this school. It was her limit.
