In the past studies of " inferior officials" in the Song Dynasty, the focus of the academic circles was mainly on their concept definition, functions, systems and official relations, while the image of " hell inferior officials " was less explored, and the investigation of their related stories needs to be deepened. In the note novel Yi Jian Zhi written by Hong Mai in the Southern Song Dynasty, there are many stories about the "hell inferior officials", which are rich in genres and shape their images in many ways, which can properly fill the shortage of historical data in this regard. Studying these stories about the " hell inferior officials " in the Song Dynasty can not only enrich the image of the " inferior officials " in the Song Dynasty, but also further reflect the real views and ethical beliefs of the people"s livelihood on the " inferior officials " in the real society of the Song Dynasty through the construction of the " hell inferior officials " in the hearts of the people from the perspective of social history, which is conducive to further exploring the definition and functions of the "officials" in the grass-roots society of the people"s livelihood in the Song Dynasty.
