2030세대 이용자들의 딥페이크(Deepfake) 기술 경험에 대한 사례연구: 벤야민의 기술복제, 정치의 심미화 및 예술의 정치화 사유를 중심으로

Case Study on the Experience of 2030 Generation Users with Deepfake Technology: Focusing on Benjamin’s Mechanical Reproduction, the Aesthetization of Politics, and the Politicization of Art as key themes

The purpose of this study is to analyze the positive and negative aspects of the deepfake technology experience of users in their 20s and 30s, and to explore the possibility of practicing the politicization of art to overcome the problems of technology reproduction. To this end, as a theoretical discussion, the discussions of the “Aura transformation” derived from Walter Benjamin’s discussion of the decline of the aura were reviewed, and the issues of the deepfake case were explored based on the aestheticization of politics and the reasons for politicization of art. By applying the case analysis method, the aestheticization of politics through the experience of deepfake technology of the study participants and the politicization of art through entertainment were analyzed. Technological experience appeared as production and use experience, and examples of the aestheticization of politics appeared through false information, reliability, social and ethical issues, and commercial deception. The case of politicization of art through entertainment was reviewed in terms of active use, reliability recovery, and ethical and institutional development. The significance of this study is to create an opportunity for public debate to seek a positive use of deepfake technology by approaching deepfake technology experience and recognition cases.

이 연구의 목적은 2030세대 이용자들의 딥페이크 기술 경험에 나타난 다양한 쟁점들을 분석하고, 딥페이크 기술 사례의 문제점을 극복하기 위한 예술의 정치화 실천 가능성을 모색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 이론적 논의로서 발터 벤야민(Walter Benjamin)의 아우라 붕괴 논의에서 파생된 ‘아우라변형’의 논의들을 재검토하고, 정치의 심미화, 예술의 정치화 사유를 토대로 딥페이크 사례의 쟁점을 탐색하였다. 사례분석 방법을 적용해 연구참여자들의 딥페이크 기술 경험을 통한 정치의 심미화와 유희·오락을 통한 예술의 정치화 사례를 분석하였다. 기술 경험은 제작 및 이용 경험으로 나타났고, 정치의 심미화 사례는 허위정보와 신뢰성, 사회적·윤리적 문제, 상업적 기만을 통해 나타났다. 유희·오락을 통한 예술의 정치화 사례는 적극적 이용과 신뢰성 회복, 윤리적·제도적 발전의측면에서 검토되었다. 이 연구의 의의는 딥페이크 기술 경험과 인식 사례에 접근하여 딥페이크 기술의 긍정적 활용 방안을 모색하기 위한 공론화 계기 창출에 있다.
