As the maritime industry increasingly adopts digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability, reliable data collection and transmission systems have become essential. However, the harsh and bandwidth-limited nature of the maritime environment poses significant challenges to real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making. Motivated by the need for robust data infrastructure in maritime operations, this study presents a preliminary validation of a ship-based marine IoT platform designed for real-time sensor data collection and transmission. The platform was tested under real-world conditions using five days of operational data from a commercial vessel. A total of 271 sensor variables, sampled every 10 seconds, produced over 11 million data points. The system's performance was evaluated based on data completeness and correctness. The results confirmed 100% data reception without loss and a 0% error rate based on sampled variable comparison. These findings demonstrate the platform's reliability and functional accuracy under constrained maritime communication environments. The outcome supports its applicability to future use cases such as remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and emissions management, while establishing a foundation for advanced digital maritime systems.
