멀티미디어를 응용한 교원연수방식의 가능성과 한계

The purpose of this article is probing the possibility and limitation of using multimedia for teacher training system. To accomplish the goal of the study, the followings were defined: definition of multimedia, characteristics of multimedia, definition and characteristics of teacher training system, teacher training method and its problems, major principles and examples of using multimedia for refining teacher training system. This article suggests the following principles for using multimedia and other advanced communciation system for teacher training system: 1. The most fundamental paradigm of teacher trainging system should be opened. 2. The effect of using multimedia should lead systemic change in the whole training system which includes teaching method, selection of topics, evaluation method and philosophy, and communication methods between peer learners. 3. The training should be more specific and practical so that the training can end with the better job performance. 4. The trainging schedule and method should be more flexible so that teachers can learn anytime and anyplace. 5. The training system should be opened electronically between the learners and the system. 6. The virtual training system using multimedia should be backuped with a properly designed real training system in order to enhance communication and system dynamics. As a conclusion this article emphasizes the importance of paradigm shift of every component of teacher training system as well as using most updated technology such as multimedia, e-mail, internet. In other words, investing money to update electronic system and computer hardware is easier than investing effort to change teachers’ and administers’ paradigm. Since using technology requires not only knowledge on the advanced technology but also open mind on the teacher training system.
