Aggregate was produced using waste vinyl generated from farmland. This polyethylene aggregate is lightweight material with a specific gravity 1.08 and wear rate obtained from abrasion test was 2.36 which is far lower than ordinary gravel. As a result of thermal conductivity test after mixing this PE aggregate with asphalt concrete, it's revealed that the higher the mixing ratio the less the thermal conductivity. Furthermore, asphalt concrete mixed with this PE aggregate test applied for the test purpose to KICT outdoor test road and then temperature variation and snow thawing effect of asphalt layer were measured in winter. Consequently, cold air seal effect (insulation effect) was greater than ordinary asphalt layer, thereby thawing the snow faster.
