고등학교 신입생의 또래애착과 학업성취간의 관계: 학업적 자기효능감의 매개효과

The Relationship between Peer Attachment and the Academic Achivement of High School Freshman: The Role of Academic Self Efficacy as a Mediator

이 연구에서는 고등학교 신입생을 대상으로 또래애착과 학업적 자기효능감, 학업성취 간의 직접적인 관 계를 살펴보고 또래애착이 학업성취에 미치는 영향에 학업적 자기효능감이 매개변인으로 작용하는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대전지역의 고등학생 242명을 대상으로 또래애착과 학업적 자기효능감, 학 업성취에 대한 설문을 실시하였으며 분석에 SPSS 18.0을 활용하였다. 또래애착과 학업성취를 매개하는 학 생의 학업적 자기효능감의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 Baron과 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 3단계의 매개효과 분 석 절차에 따라 단순 및 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 첫째, 또래애착은 학업적 자 기효능감과 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 또한, 또래애착의 하위요인 중 소외감을 제외한 의사소통과 신뢰감 은 학업성취와 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 그리고 학업적 자기효능감은 학업성취와 유의미한 상관을 보였 다. 둘째, 또래애착이 학업성취에 미치는 영향에서 또래 애착은 학업성취에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 학업적 자기효능감을 매개로하여 간접적인 영향도 미쳤다. 따라서 또래애착이 학업성취에 미치는 영향에 있어서 학업적 자기효능감의 부분매개효과가 있다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 연구 결과는 또래애착이 높을 경우 학업적 자기효능감이 높아지고 이는 다시 높은 학업성취에 기여한다는 것을 보여준다. 마지막으로 연구결과의 의의와 시사점을 논의하였다

This study is designed to investigate the direct relationship between peer attachment and academic achievement and to examine the mediating effect of academic self-efficacy on the relationship between peer attachment and the academic achievement of male high school students. The subjects of this study were 242 high school freshmen students in the Daejeon area of South Korea. The three variables: peer attachment, academic self-efficacy, and academic achievement were measured by self-report questionnaires and the collected data was analyzed by SPSS 18.0. In addition, this study adopted a Baron & Kenny (1986) three-stage regression analysis in order to investigate the mediating effect of academic self-efficacy. The main results are as follows: First, a significant positive relationship was found for peer attachment with academic self-efficacy. Academic self-efficacy was positively related with academic achievement. The Findings also revealed the direct relationship between peer attachment and academic achievement. Second, academic self-efficacy emerged as a partial mediator in the relationship between peer attachment and academic achievement. The results of this study provide useful implications for both educators and counselors in regards to what should be considered for helping low-achieving students to increase their academic achievements.
