The authors reviewed relationships between Down’s syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease in terms of neuropathology, anatomical sites of lesions, clinical features, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology. The two conditions have many similarities in all aspects. At present, chromosome 21 seems to be related to, at least, familial type of Alzheimer’s disease. Further works in molecular biology may reveal one or more genetic loci related to development of Alzheimer’s disease.
