Globus Hystericus의 임상 및 심리적 특성에 관한 고찰

Since there has been a lot of controversy about the etiology as well as the appropriate diagnostic criteria for the symptoms of globus hystericus, the authors tried to identify the clinical and psychological characteristics more clearly. 33 psychogenic patient group was compared with 36 organic control group who had complained of the foreign body sensation in the throat and 33 normal control group. Beck’ s Depression Inventory and Spielberger’ s Anxiety Scale were used in addition to semistructured interview about the clinical and psychological characteristics of globus patients. The results were as follows; 1) The degree of ansxiety and depression of psychogenic patients group were more severe than that of the other two groups. 2) The majority of globus symptoms appeared as the conversion symptoms of inner conflicts or a representation of depression. 3) The inner conflicts of globus hystericus were mostly repressed hostility or anger and those were somewhat related to the precipitating events of intrafamilial problems which were thought to be cultural characteristics of Korean housewives. 4) In some patients the globus symptoms appeared as the results of learning effect of the childhood experience on similar symptoms of his own or his family members.
