A Study On The Intergenerational Transmission of Marital Instability

This study was conducted to find out the intergenerational transmission of marital instability by researching the correlation with marital satisfaction of subjects and the type of parental marriage. The subjects were 119 married women. The research method is ‘ Index of Marital Satisfaction : I.M.S’ of Hudson and Glisson. Additionally, sociodemographic facts of parents and that of subject couples which may effect on the marital satisfaction were considered. The results are as follows; 1) When dividing the type of parental marriage by satisfied home, unsatisfied home, divorced and seperated home and parent deceased home, the marital satisfaction of subjects shows statistically significant differences. That is, the subject of the satisfied home shows the highest marital satisfaction and the subject of divorced and seperated home shows higher satisfaction than that of unsatisfied home. The subject of parent deceased home shows the lowest satisfaction. 2) There was significant difference of the marital satisfaction according to the mother’s occupation of the subject. Laborers, farmer and fisherman show the lower satisfaction than the mean. Servicer, unemployer, and sales man show the higher satisfaction than mean. 3) Sociodemographic factors that affect the marital satisfaction of the subjects were age of subject couples, educational level of subject couples, and occupation of subject’s husband
