The purpose of this study was to examine the changes of psychological characteristics of seizure patients by comparing means of MMPI subscales at the initial therapy period and follow-up. In addition, in order to identify the relationships between the changes in MMPI results and various clinical factors and socioenvironmental factors, we administered the MMPI twice(initial therapy session and follow-up), the life event scale, and Interpersonal Support Evaluation List to the seizure patients who visited Chosun College of Medicine and local neuropsychiatric clinics. The total cases were twenty seven seizure patients. The duration of study was from Sep. 1, 1983 to Feb. 28, 1987. The results are as follows •• 1) There is not significant differences between the initial and follow-up means of MMPI subscales by the seizure type and total subjects. 2) The cases showing abnormal MMPI profile at initial session were sixteen (about 6 0 ^), and the cases with above 70 T-score in each scale were 8(Hs), 8(D), 7(Hy), 7(Sc), and 5(Pt). 3) In follow-up study, ten subjects(about 3 7 0 were showing abnormal MMPI profies, and the Hs, Sc, D scales contained four, three and two subjects each with above 70 T-score. 4) It is suggested that there are complex relationships between the difference of means of initial and follow-up MMPI subscales and demographic variables, clinical factors measured by Life Event Scale and the scores of Interpersonal Support Evaluation List.
