A Comparative Study of Attitude Toward Suicide Among Physicians, Psychiatrists and Normal Subjects

Using the suicidal opinion questionnaire established by Domino on 170 psychiatrists, 379 physicians, and 229 normal subjects to find out the difference in attitude in regard to suicide, we reached the following results; 1) We extracted 10 factors after factor analysis with the response of the 229 normal subjects • ethics, religion, mental illness, aging, motivation, attention and help, revenge, risk, acceptability and culture. 2) After comparing total scores of psychiatrists, physicians and normal subjects, we came up with significant difference in each factor except aging. 3) After comparing the years of working experience of psychiatrists and physicians, we came up with significant difference in factors such as ethics, religion, mental illness, attention and help, risk and culture. 4) After comparing their working fields, we came up with significant difference in factors such as ethics, religion, mental illness, motivation, revenge and culture. 5) After comparing their specialty, we came up with significant difference in factors such as ethics, aging, motivation and acceptability.
