쓰기에서의 작업 기억에 대한 이론적 탐색

A theoretical discussion on the working memory contributions to writing process

글을 쓸 때에는 쓰기의 하위 과정들이 동시다발적으로 수행되고 덧붙여서 머릿속에 형성된 아이디어를 문장으로 작성하는 과정에서 운동 기능을 능숙하게 사용하는 것은 물론이고 맞춤법 등의 제약들도 동시에 고려해야 한다는 점에서 쓰기는 더욱 어려운 작업이다. 그래서 쓰기를 수행하는 동안에 작업 기억은 쓰기 수행의 과정에 영향을 미치고 결국은 쓰기 수행의 결과물에도 영향을 미치게 된다. 지금까지 국내 쓰기 교육은 쓰기 과정에서의 작업 기억의 영향에 대해서는 거의 고려하지 않고 있다. 그러나 앞으로는 국내에서도 작업 기억과 쓰기의 관련성을 탐색하는 연구가 활발하게 수행되어야 할 것이다. 또한 이러한 연구 결과가 실제적으로 교육의 국면으로 환원되어서 학생들의 쓰기를 개선하는 데에 도움을 주어야 할 것이다.

Writing is a difficult skill to master because may cognitive abilities are utilized during the writing process. Working memory(WM) is one cognitive skill used in writing and WM has been found to relate highly to writing ability. WM is believed to supply the working space and retrieves the information needed to utilize the different subprocesses of writing. WM contribute to writing process and writing production. However, in Korea, writing educators or writing researchers don t focused on WM during writing performance. So, the researchers have to investigate how WM contribute to writing process and what occurs during the writing process for korean students, and these findings will help students to improve their writing ability.
