The purpose of the study is to examine whether discriminating difficulty and achievement of integrated science textbooks effect on the choice of general or science major in the first year of high school students. The subjects are 974 students in the 2nd year of high schools who were already completed integrated science and finished track decision of liberal arts or science in the 1st year. In the analysis of ANOVA, gender, difficulty, and achievement of integrated science were the significant factors when deciding general or science majors. In science track more males were entered to the track than females, students felt easier in science than liberal arts majors, and students had higher level of achievement. In the stepwise discriminant analysis the highest discriminant variable was science achievement, next were gender and science difficulty. Students who were higher on achievement of integrated science felt less difficulty, and males had more possibility of having a choice of science track, however, students who were lower on achievement of integrated science felt difficulty, and female had more possibility of having a choice of science track. The study suggest that increasing academic achievement of integrated science in which students commonly learn without the distinction between liberal arts and science track can help to choose more science track.
