Human beings live in groups and continuously make social relationships with others. Recently, various problems are related to sociality, such as school violence and bulling have increased in school society. However, it is hard to explain on human sociality because social life is composed of trust, intention, and motivation in group scale and related to each culture, society and one’s state of mind. So, the purpose of this study is to propose major brain regions of sociality by literature reviews in several studies on brain activities of social nature using brain-imaging methods. Especially, in this study we explain sociality focused on social pain and pleasure because human social behavior is one of fundamental needs in terms of pain and pleasure. Results have been shown that major brain regions of social pain are analyzed as dorsal anterior cingulate cortex(dACC), ventral prefrontal cortex(VPFC), anterior insular (AI) and posterior insular(PI). In addition, major brain regions of social pleasure are revealed as striatum, insula, midbrain, orbitofrontal cortex(OFC) and ventromedial prefrontal cortex(VMPFC). Because brain regions of social pain are similar to those of physical pain, this study has been suggested that individuals who experienced social rejection or devaluated from others tries to escape the situation. Also brain regions of sicoal pleasure are similar to those of monetary rewards, results have been proposed that individuals are eager to heard compliments from others and to be accepted to groups they desire. The results of this study are provided as a useful knowledge to analyze students’ social behavior in school society and evaluate their sociality.
