癌患者와 非癌患者의 不安과 憂懲에 關한 硏究

The Comparison of Anxiety and Depression Between Cancer Patients and Non-Cancer Medical Patients

The authors studied the emotional status of the medical inpatients by means of the clinical interview, BDI ( Beck Depression Inventory},STAI (State -Trait Anxiety Inventory). The subject was 47cancer patients hospitalized at the departmont of internal medicine of Seoul National University Hospital for chemotherapy during the period from June 9, 1985 to August 5, 1985 and 49 relatively chronic medicai inpatient hospitalized during the period from August 5,1985 to August 14, 1985. Also, the authors compared the degree of anxiety & depression according to each factors of demographic data and etc. which might influence on the emotional status of cancer patients. Comparing the group of cancer patients ( Group A ) with that of relatively chronic non-cancer patient (Group B ), there was no statistical significant difference on the factors as sex, age, education, economic status, religion pain, duration of illness. Among the total 96 patients, the number of the group A was 49 and that of the group B was 47. 1) There was no statistical significant difference in BDI & STAI comparing the group A with the group B. But, in female patients, there was the tendency of higher anxiety & depression in the group B than in BDI & the trait -anxiety of STAI(P=0&#9830;&#4363;8 P=0.12 ), 2) According to age & sex in the group of Cancer patients, there was no statistical significant difference in BDL but in STAI, there was a statistical significant difference which showed the degree of anxiety of 6th decade patients was lower than 2nd decade -5th decade patients. 3 ) According to education, economic status, pain, religion, duration of illness duration of chemotherapy, diagnosis in the group of cancer patientSjjthere was no statistical significant difference. 4 ) According to the response for chemotherapy, in BDI & STAI in the group of cancer patients, the non ^responders were the more anxious & depressive than the responders (P <0.01,0.05< P <0.01). 5) According to prognosis in the group of cancer patients, the group who had poor prognosis was the more anxious & depressive than the group who had good prognosis 0.01 < P < 0.01, 0.05<P<0.01). 6) In group B, according to duration of illness & diagnosis there was no statistical significant difference.
