Two Cases of Withdrawal Dyskinesia after the Abrupt Cessation of Antipsychotics

Two schizophrenics , both in their teens , who de veloped withdrawal dyskinesia following abruptcessation of antipsychotics were presented with special emphasis on their psychopharmacological mechanism as well as their clinical characteristics . The withdrawal symptoms were characterized by autonomic symptoms, Parkinsonism ,and withdraw al dyskinesias which developed following the abr-uptcessation of antipsychotics and anticholinergics . These symptoms subsided with in 2weeks after readministration of antipsychotics and anticholinergics . Efforts were also made to differentiate these symptoms.from that of schizophrenic disorder and along with some review over literature .
