In order to collect baseline data to set up educational guidelines for adolescent’s affective disorder, it was attempted to analyze the relationship between body types and depressive trends. Data was collected through questionnaire survey applied to 1395 students from 8 middle and high schools including Seoul and Country area. The results of the study were presented below. 1. Among body types of adolescent student in Korea, the athletic type(42. 2%) was the most prevalent ones, the next was the asthenic type (21.4% )f the pyknic type(19.6% )f the dysplastic type(10. b%) and the mixed type(6.3%) in this order. 2. The most frequent and serious depressive sign perceived by adolescent students was psychological equivalent of depression including agitation, retardation, indecisiveness, hopelessness, irritability and emptiness, while physiological equivalent of depression such as constipation, decreased libido, insomnia, tachycardia and fatigue was found to be the least frequent depressive signs. 3. In the relationship between schoolers’ body types and their depressive trends, the pervasive affect, the physiological equivalents and the psychomotor disturbance of depression were the most prevalent in the dysplastic type. In the other wards, the dysplastic student showed depressive trend including confusion, fatigue,diurnal variation, dysphoric mood, weight loss,personal devaluation and dissatisfaction. 4. The ideational depressive trend such as emptiness, suicidal rumination, hopelessness and irritability was the most frequently observed in the pyknic type. 5. The physiological equivalent of depressive trend with decreased libido and tachycardia was the most prevalent in the asthenic type. 6. There occured little depressive trend in the athletic type.
