사회공포증에 관한 임상적 고찰 (1)

The clinical picture of 52 social phobia cases were studied, who had visited Korea General Hospital, Seoul, Korea, from M ay 1st, 1982 to July 31st, 1983. Results were as follows: 1. Social phobia patients comprised 2 .2% of the total numbers of total psychiatric outpatient visits. 2. Male patients (34) outnumbered female (18) with ratio of 1. 9: 1. 3. Majority of the subjects (88.5%) were between age range of 15 to 29; 44. 2% of the subjects were in their late 20s for their first visit to the clinic, and 50% of the women were in their early 20s. 4. Subjects tended to have higher education. 5. In male patients, first and last born were over-represented in the population. 6. One of the characteristic feature in its clinical course appeared to be that symptoms were changed in sequential fashion as follows: 7. There was a group of subjects who showed somewhat differents clinical pictures from social phobia in general, thus termed as borderline Type”. However, further diagnostic evaluation is warranted for justification of this diagnostic standing. 8. Average number of phobia symptoms at the time of clinic visit were 1.3, while the total number of phobia in the past were 2. 3, and the total number of transient, interpersonal anxiety symptoms were 13. 6. 9. As to the oneset of symptoms, those who developed w ith gradual oneset were most frequent (33cases), and this group showed the best adjustment in their social life. 10, The younger the subjects, the poorer were the social adjustment. 11. It was remarkable that 23% of the cases were totally incapacitated in their social function.
