The author studied 54 veterans with chronic psychiatric disability after head trauma, who were Neuro-Psychiatric dept, of Korean Veterans Hospital from Mar. 1, 1980 to Dec. 31,1981. The results were as follows: 1. In terms of psychiatric disability, the posttraumatic epilepsy was must frequent and they were accounted for 40.74%. 2. The heighest rate was seen in the 5th decade (27. 78%) in age distribution. 3. Elementary school graduates (33.33%) were most frequent and the most of them had no religion (74.07%). 4. Their socio-economic status was low and middle class in large part and most of subjects was unemployed (62.96%). 5. The 59.26% of the subjects were married. 6. The explosive accidents were the major cause (41.15%) of head traumas. 7. Most of subjects showed skull defective condition due to skull fracture and operation and metal foreign body in soft tissue and scalp in X-ray findings (31.48%). 8. Electroncephalography was abnormal in 40.74%, 9. In terms of the premorbid personality, the passive-aggressive personality was 18.52%, explosive personality was 16.67%. 10. 33.33% of the subject reported that their first attacks following head trauma were after 10. years. 11 . Most frequent psychiatric symptoms were headache or dizziness in 45cases, memory impairment in 21 cases, and sleep disturbance in 15 cases.
