정서장애 아동의 부모에 관한 고찰

A Study of Parents of Emotionally Disturbed Children

The parents of a hundred emotionally disturbed children selected at random from 12 prim ary schools in Busan area, and the parents of a hundred children attending the same school were com pared on their marital adjustment, attitude towards their own children, and disciplinary techniques, respectively. The control group children were individually matched with the emotionally disturbed children fo r age, sex, and the age, socioeconom ic status, and education of parent. The results were as follows; 1. Marital adjustment was much less satisfactory in the parents of the emotionally disturbed children than in the control parents. 2. The parents of the emotionally disturbed children were found to be less warm and loving in their attitude towards their children than the control parents, and they were indifferent and rejecting m ore often than the control group. 3. There was no significant statistical difference in the between the parents of the emotionally disturbed children and the control parents proportion of the rigid and overprotective attitude towards their children. 4. For disciplinary technique, persuasion and discussion was far more frequently used by the control parents than the parents of the emotionally disturbed children, while inconsistency was more common in the parents of the emotionally disturbed children. Scolding and physical punishment were more often used by the mothers of the emotionally disturbed children than the control mothers, but the differrence between the two groups was statistically insignificant.
