The author tried to analyze the various factors, and to measure the seriousness of the suicidal attempt for the purpose of making effective prevention planning and treatment in the military service. The subjects were thirty suicidal attempters， who had been admitted at the neuropsychiatric and other departements of Capital Armed Forcees General Hospital during the period from January, 1979 to June, 1979. The results were as follows： 1. As to the occupations before military service, unemployed (40%) were the highest number of total cases. 2. Many of the attempters (76.7%) did not give prior communication of their suicidal intention. 3. As to the seasonal distributious the highest rate occurred at spring. 4. As to the method of suicidal attempt, more than half of the attempters used poisonous drugs especially hypno-sedatives. 5. A bout 69.6% of the total cases occurred at out side of the military camp. 6. Motivations of the suicidal attempt due to pre-existiong psychopathology were the highest rate of all cases. 7. Many cases (73.3%) had not suicidal family history or other psychiatric problems. 8. About 23% of the total cases had past history of attempted suicide. 9. Tqe diagnostic distributions were the maladjustment reaction (30% )， the schizophrenia (16.1%), the reactive depression (10% ), the neurosis (6.7% ), the psychotic depression (3.7%) and the undeterm ined (10% ), in th is order. 10. The MMPI scales especially Hs and Pt had revealed the most significant difference from those of control group. As the n ext one, D, Hy, Pd and Sc and also significant difference.
