1. Several enzyme activities in the brain tissues of albino rats were analyzed 24 hours after EC-2 administration; alkaline RNase only showed significantly increased a ctivity among GDA, GOT, LDH and alkaline RNase. The brain homogenate, supplemented with EC-2 in vitro showed likewise increased activity of alkaline RNase. 2. Through successive treatment with acid and heat, followed by salting out with ammonium sulfate and D EAE-cellulose chromatog-raphy , alkaline RNase was partially purified from rat brain tissues. The effect of EC-2 to this partially purified alkaline RNase preparation showed increase of RNase a ctivity, which seems to suggest the possibility of direct interaction between alkaline RNase and EC-2 Lasparaginase. 3. Variations in the concentrations of amine compounds and ammonia were observed after administration of EC-2. Among the amine compounds in the brain tissues, the contents of norepinephrine and dopamine increased while those of serotonin and histamine decreased. The concentration of ammonia in the brain tissues was also slightly elevated. 4. Amine compounds added to the brain hom-ogenate in vitro altogether inhibited the activity of alkaline RNase therein.
