The aim of this study was to evaluate the mental, health of juvenile delinquents by using C. M. I. and to investigate psychiatric pictures of the delinquents in terms of their psychic and somaticcomplaints. The C. M. I. was applied both to 86 juvenile delinquents who were confined at Seoul Child Guidance Clinic and to 103 non-delinquent juveniles of similar age attending to a middle-school in theoutskirts of Seoul. Statistically significant differences were obtained between the normal and delinquent group. The results were as follows. 1) The mean C. M. I. score of the delinquent group was 33.0, and that of the control group was 21.7 (P<0. 001). 2) The mean score of M —R items (psychological complaints) of the delinquent group was 14.3 and that of the control group was 7.8 (^><0. 001). The mean score of C. I. J. items (somatic complaints) of the delinquent group was 3.8 and that of the control was 1.7 (/><0.001). Both of the mean scores of the delinquent group weresignificantly higher (about twice as much) than those of the control group. This could suggest that, in juvenile delinquents, inner conflicts tended to be manifested through physical symptoms. 3) It was learnt that C.M.I. was a useful tool for evaluation of the dynamics and for determination of pathological patterns of certain defined gro-ups.
