The authors studied 33 cases of delirium tremens admitted to the Sacred Heart Hospital and the Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, Chungang University, College of Medicine from June, 1968 to Dec, 1974. The results were as follow. 1) In the age distribution of 33 cases of deliriunr tremens, the number of cases distributed to the age from 41-50 were 13 (39.4%) and age from 31-40 were 10 (30.3%). 2) Among 33 cases, the number who had consumed hard liquor were 19 (57. 5%) and the withdrawal; period of high occurance of delirium tremens was 5-7 day (30.2% ). 3) 27 cases (81- 8%) among them, acute symptoms were subsided within 1 week and 11 cases (33.3%) were dischaged within 1 week. 4) 42.5% of the patients were on chlordiazepoxide and 51. 5% of the patients wdre chlorpromazine. 5) The number who were jobless were 11 (33.3%),liberal profession 9 (27.3%) and merchant 6 (18.2%). 6) 9 cases (27.2%) were 16-20 years of chronic alcoholism and majority of them (90.9%) were firstly admitted. 7) All cases showed tremor and 20 cases (60. 6%) hallucinatory episode, and 19 cases (57.6%) disoriention.
