頭痛患者 腦波所見의 分析

EEG FINDINGS IN PATIENTS WITH CHIEF COMPLAINT OF HEADACHE

Since the EEG study is harmless and painless, it has often been applied to headache sufferers, and many articles have been reported on the findings therefrom The author tried to evaluate the correlations between headache and EEG findings Of the total 4671 patients who had undergone EEG test at Seoul National University Hospital during the past 8 years, 176 headache sufferers were selected. The cases with previous seizure or structural changes of the brain were excluded in this study. Incidence of EEG abnormalities, their expression rates and localities were compared by each age group, sex and types of headaches. EEG abnormalities appeared in 19. 3% of the total, the greatest rate showing in the age group of 4—15 years (4.4%)• The expression rates of abnormalities in each age group were the greatest also in this age group (50%). The lowest were between 31ᅳ 45 years (4.4%). The abnormalities were often localized (70.6%), whereas in the age group of 4〜 15 years a tendency of being generalized was noticed. The author suggests the necessity of EEG test and follow-up even in the cases of functional headache sufferers, especially in the younger age group.
