The authors reported a case of genital self-mutilation in a Korean soldier who was admitted in Busan Armed Forces General Hospital. The accident was followed by depressive reaction precipitated by a long-standing venereal disease. Psychodynamically, loss of paternal identification, strong identification with overconcerned and hostile mother, and profound guilt from sexual fantasy were considered as main precausors of genital selfmutilation.
