A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF FAMILIES OF YOUNG ADULT SCHIZOPHRENICS, PERSONALITY DISORDERS, AND CONTROL GROUP — STRUCTURAL ASPECT—

Author has studied about families of young adult (16—2S years old) schizophrenics, personality disorders and contol group on the structural aspect. The cases are collected from in-patient in SNUH, from Jan. L 1967 to July 31, 1973 for 85 schizophrenics and to July 31, 1974 for 29 personality disorders. The results are: 1. In parental deprivation, schizoprenic patients have significantly high incidence. 2. There are no difference in parental deprivation between personality disorders and control group. 3. In male schizophrenic patients who experienced parental deprivation, more schizophrenics came from the last half of their male siblings than from the first half. 4. More of female personality disorders are in the first half than the last half. Ib conclusion, in spite of small size of sample (especially in personality disorder), these findings serve to suggest some differences in the family structure of schizophrenics and personality disorders from control group.
