Elaboration Process에 의한 후기낭만화성 교수법의 제안

A Study of Pedagogy for the Late Romantic Harmony Applying the Method of Elaboration Process

본 논문은 후기낭만화성에 관한 교수법을 연구한 논문으로, 후기낭만화성을 가르칠 때에 필자가 고안한 Elaboration Process를 적용시켜 학생들이 후기낭만화성의 이해와 응용을 보다 쉽게 교육시킬 수 있게 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 후기낭만화성의 여러 가지 수법들 중에서 〈반음진행 시퀀스〉에 관한 내용만을 다루고 있다. 본 논문에서 다루고 있는 작품은 베토벤의 「교향곡 제3번」(1802-1804), 제1악장, 마디178-187와 리스트의 「전주곡(교향시 제3번, 마디107-129), 그리고 베를리오즈의 「환상교향곡」, 제5악장, 마디305-327 등이다. 본 논문에서는 후기낭만화성의 범위를 밝히기 위해서 기능화성의 내용을 일반화시키고 있는데, 그렇지만 기능화성의 범위는 하나의 원칙에 의해 고정적으로 규정할 수 있는 내용이 아니기 때문에 음악작품의 문맥을 통하여 비기능화성과 연계되는 경우도 많다는 점을 명확하게 하고 있다.

This article studies some pedagogy for the uses and analysis of the late Romantic harmonic practice. It is the Elaboration Process, which the author developed from the compositional process in tonal music, that is employed for this pedagogy. The author says in this article that if the Elaboration Process is employed for the teaching of the late Romantic harmony, it is helpful for the understanding of nonfunctional harmony. The practice of the late Romantic harmony, in some aspects, is equivalent to the nonfunctional harmony. Musical examples used for Elaboration Process in this article are those passages from the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (1802-1804), Liszt’s Les Prelude (1848-1854), and Berlioz’s Symphonie fatastique (1830).
