에릭 사티(Erik Satie) 음악의 혁신과 변화

Innovation and change in Erik Satie’s music

19세기를 지나며 예술뿐만 아니라 정치·사회·과학·철학·문화 등 모든 삶의 양식에서 엄청난 변화의 움직임들이 있었다. 음악에서도 지난 약 4세기 동안 지켜온 전통적인 음악적 사고와 이상에서 벗어나 새로운 돌파구를 찾기 위해 여러 가지 시도를 감행하였는데, 이러한 변화를 주도한 작곡가들 중심에는 에릭 사티(Erik Satie)가 있었다. 사티는 혁신과 변화를 통해 그의 이상을 음악으로 실현했고 그 결과 20세기 음악적 사고의 변환에 지대한 영향을 미쳤다. 따라서 본 연구는 사티가 추구하던 음악을 통해 과거에 기반하고 미래를 예견하며 음악적 사고와 기법의 혁신을 이룬 사티 음악의 변화를 조명해보았다. 사티는 음악의 본질에 대한 회귀를 통해 달성할 수 있는 모든 가능성들을 시도한 작곡가중의 한 사람으로 평가되어 진다.

Over the past 19th century, there were movements of tremendous changes in all forms of life such as art, politics, society, science, philosophy, and as well as culture. Also in music, there were several attempts to get away from traditional musical thinking and ideal which had been kept for about the last 4 centuries. Erik Satie was in the center of the composers who had led the changes. Satie has realized his ideal by music through the innovation and change, which resulted in profound impact on conversion of musical thinking in the 20th century. Thus, from the music Satie pursued, this study highlights the changes in Satie’s music which made innovation in musical thinking and technique by standing on the basis of past and predicting future. Satie is evaluated as one of the composers who made attempts on every possibility that can be achieved by reversion of the essence of music.
