예비음악교사의 다문화교육에 관한 태도, 인식 및 효능감 조사연구

Investigation of Pre-Service Music Teachers Multicultural Attitudes, Perceptions, and Teaching Efficacy

본 연구는 중등예비음악교사의 다문화교육에 관한 태도와 인식, 교수효능감에 관한 다면적 고찰을 목적으로 한다. 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. (1) 예비음악교사들의 다문화교육에 대한 태도는 어떠한가? (2) 예비음악교사들의 다문화교육에 대한 이해도는 어떠한가? (3) 예비음악교사들의 다문화교수효능감은 어떠한가? (4) 예비음악교사들의 다문화교육 및 다문화음악교육 목표에 대한 관점은 어떠한가? 중등예비음악교사 140인이 본 연구에 참여하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비음악교사들의 다문화교육에 대한 태도는 전반적으로 긍정적으로 나타났다. 여러 특성 변인 중 예비교사들의 다문화가정에 대한 관심 여부에 따른 다문화태도 차이가 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 다문화교육 이해도에 관하여 예비음악교사들은 다문화교육 대상의 범위와 다문화가정 자녀의 학습성취도에 대해서는 높은 이해도를 보인 반면 다문화교육에 의한 역차별 현상과 다문화교육의 초점에 대해서는 상대적으로 낮은 이해도를 보였다. 셋째, 예비음악교사들의 다문화효능감은 전반적으로 높게 나타났다. 다문화 관련 태도, 관점, 인간관계 항목에 비하여 비판적 사고, 문제의 발견 및 해결, 교재개발 관련 내용의 문항의 효능감이 낮았다. 특성 변인 중 예비교사들의 다문화 태도에 의한 다문화교수효능감 차이가 통계적으로 유의미하게 나타났다. 넷째, 예비음악교사들은 다문화교육과 다문화 음악교육의 목표에 대하여 모두 조화로운 현 사회유지 및 발전에 목표를 두어야 한다는 관점에 우선순위를 두었으나 하위 순서 간에는 차이가 있었다.

This study investigates pre-service music teachers’ experiences, understanding, attitudes, and teaching efficacy with respect to multicultural education as the central focus. The researcher conducted a survey in which 140 pre-service music teachers participated. The research questions are as follows. First, what multicultural attitudes do pre-service music teachers have? Second, what do pre-service music teachers understand by multicultural education? Third, what is the pre-service music teachers efficacy in a multicultural teaching environment? Fourth, what are the perspectives of pre-service music teachers on the goals of multicultural education, particularly multicultural music education? The results obtained are as follows. First, the pre-service music teachers showed a positive multicultural attitude overall. Regarding the teachers’ multicultural views, there were statistically important differences between high and low daily interest groups dealing with multicultural families. Second, the teachers understood the basic concepts of multicultural education in general. Third, the teachers showed a generally high level of multicultural efficacy; they tended to show a greater teaching efficacy level in multicultural attitudes, perspectives, and relationships factors than nurturing students’ critical thinking, problem finding and solving abilities, and developing multicultural teaching materials. Fourth, the teachers agreed that the goals of multicultural education are human relation-centered. In this study, suggestions for future research and implications for music teacher training for multicultural education are also provided.
