The authors reported a case of Gilles de la Tourette syndrome in a 14 year old junior high school boy. About three months prior to the onset of tic syndrome , he had received a femur fracture from the traffic accident at which time he had experience a overwhelming fright Psychiatric evaluation revealed that this predominent difficulties were consisted of frequent eyelid blinkings in involuntary and spasmodic nature , phonation difficulties mostly of stutterin g , and ticl ike movement of shoulder and flank . Some characteristic psychopathology found in this case include multiple phobias , compulsive symptoms and some trends of regressive be havior as well. He had been treated with Haloperidol and analytically - oriented psycho therapy in 12 sessions for 2 months duration with some symptomatic relief. The psychodynamic formulation was made as follows : Through the analysis of his repeated dream con tents , it became apparent that his central dynamism was centered around feeling of ostracism or of rejection . In his life history , he had been deprived of early maternal care and was nakedly exposed to the frequent aggressive attacks of his tyrannical father . His premorbid personality was orally oriented as evidenced by his early character traits and the findings of clinical psychological tests.
