일 종합병원의 신경정신과 입원환자에 대한 임상적 고찰(1987년 〜1991년)

A Clinical Study of the Neuropsychiatric Inpatients at Mary knoll Hospital during Past 5 Years(1987 -1991)

The authors have surveyed 2975 inpatients who were hospitalized at the neuropsychiatric ward of Maryknoll Hospital for 5 years from Jan. 1987 to Dec. 1991, and have examined the sociodemographic & clinical characteristics o f the inpatients. The results were as follows ; 1) Mood disorder was diagnosed in the highest rate, 24.1%, somatoform disorder in 16.7%, and schzophrenia in 14.2% among the total inpatients. There was no difference in annual distribution. 2) In seasonal distribution, admission rate in summer showed the higher rate than other seasonal group. 3) In the sex distribution, there was no difference. 4) The age group o f twenties(25.4%) & thirties(24.7%) showed the higher admission rate than other age group. 5) E d u c a tio n a l level o f the patients was d istributed to illiteracy in 6.8%, primary school in 16. 7%, junior school in 19.7%, high school in 39.9% and college in 16.9%. 6) The middle group in social class was the highest rate, 65.1% and the lowest group was 24. 1%. 7) In the cases o f m ood disorder, alcoholism and anxiety, mental disorders within their familial group was higher than other case. 8) The rate o f parental deprivation before 15 years o f age was higher in mood disorder and somatoform disorder than others. 9) They were admitted to through various channels ; 5.2% transferee! from other departments, 73.2% from OPD, and 21.6% from ER. 10) Patients who did not have any previous psychiatric admission showed the highest rate, 58.3%. In readmission rate, schizophrenia, somatoform disorder and alcoholism showed the higher rate than other cases. 11) Duration of hospitalzation between 7 days and 15 days was the highest rate, 28.7% and duration below 1 month showed 79.1*%. 12) Improved cases of all the patients showed 91.0% and patients who have organic mental disorder were unresponsive or worsened to treatment
