영화에서의 음악과 음향의 청취조건 이론에 의한 영화 ‘베로니카의 이중생활’의 분석적 고찰

A Study on the Analytic Consideration of the film The double life of Verronika through the Hearing Condition Theory of Music and Sound in film

영화의 소리를 듣는 행위는 일반적인 음악을 듣는 행위와는 다르다. 왜냐하면 영화에서의 소리는 반드시 화면을 동반하기때문이다. 미셸 시옹(M. Chion)과 데이비드 소넨샤인(D. Sonnenschein)이 주장하는 소리의 청취조건을 정리해보면 세 가지로 나누어지는데, 첫 번째는 음향을 듣는 시점, 두 번째는 청취 행위, 세 번째는 음향에 대하여 주의를 끄는 정도이다. 이들은 영화에서의 음악과 음향의 청취 태도를 결정하는 요인들이다. 키에슬로브스키(K. Kieslowski) 감독의 영화 ‘베로니카의 이중생활’은 그의 다른 영화에서처럼 음악과 음향이 영화의 모티브로서 중요하고 다양한 청각적 관점을 제시한다. 본 연구에서는 음악과 음향의 청취조건에 의하여 영화 ‘베로니카의 이중생활’을 분석적으로 고찰하였다. 첫 번째로 음향을 듣는 시점은 기본적으로 화면이 제시하는 시각에 달려있다. 그러나 음향을 듣는 시점은 어느 하나의 시점으로 고정되기도 하지만 다양한 시점이 동시에 인식될 수도 있다. 두 번째로 청취 행위와 관련하여 여러 청취 태도가 동시에 취해지는 상황이 가능하다는 것을 실례를 통하여 알아보았다. 세 번째로 음악심리학의 음악 감상의 과정을 영화의 음향에서의 소리에 대한 주의를 끄는 정도의 단계 과정과 비교하여 보았다. 여기서 음향에 대한 주의를 끄는 정도는 음향 유형의 종류와 화면과 소리의 시청각적 연계 유무 등에 따라서도 달라질 수도 있다. 영화에서 소리를 듣는 청취방법은 시각과 청각이 함께 인식되어 영향을 미치는 결과를 보여주기 때문에 결국은 이 둘 간의 관계를 어떻게 해석하느냐에 따라서 달라질 수 있다.

An act of hearing sound in film differs from an act of listening to music because the sound in film always accompanies visual screen. The hearing conditions of sound in film by the opinions of Michel Chion and David Sonnenschein are classified into the view point of hearing sound, the attitude of the act of hearing, and the attention degree for sound. All these are factors which can decide listening attitude of music and sound in film. The film The double life of Verronika directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski, treats importance of music and sound in film making, has various auditory points. In this study, the film The double life of Verronika is analyzed through the listening attitude of music and sound in film. Firstly, the viewpoint of hearing sound depends on the viewpoint suggested from the visual frame. However, the viewpoint of hearing sound can be identified with several different viewpoints at the same time. Secondly, it is possible to take separate attitudes of the act of hearing simultaneously. Thirdly, the process the attention degree for sound can be explained with comparing with the process of listening to music. The attention degree for sound can be decided by the types of film sound and visual-auditory relationship. The method for hearing sound in film is decided by the analysis of the relationship between visual and auditory senses because the both of the visual and auditory senses influence audiences simultaneously.
