초등학교 음악수업에서 음악과 언어 영역과의 통합적 접근의 탐색

Integrating Elementary Music Class with Language Instruction

본 연구는 교사가 음악활동을 여러 교과들과 연계시킬 수 있는 경험과 통찰력을 얻게 학기 위해 초등음악 지도에 있어 교사 혼자서도 음악수업에서 음악교과 고유의 영역을 희생하지 않으면서 다른 영역과의 통합을 이끌어낼 수 있는 방법을 탐색해보고자 한다. 이를 위해 통합교육의 출발점으로써 한 개의 타 교과 간의 통합방법 중 음악과 언어 영역을 연계하였다. 먼저 관련 문헌을 통해 음악과 언어 영역 간의 통합적 접근방법(음악학습과 언어지식 영역의 통합, 아동문학을 활용한 음악학습, 표제음악 감상과 언어학습의 통합)을 고찰하고, 각 접근방법에 대해 현행 초등음악 교과서의 제재곡에 적용하여 교사가 음악 수업에서 통합하여 지도할 수 있는 활동의 구체적인 예를 제시하였다.

Theoretically, the importance of integrating the arts, especially music, with other academic subjects has been given continual emphasis. However, music educators and other teachers are not often involved in integrating curricula. Typically, music is taught as a separate discipline without reference to general education. Otherwise, even when it is related with general education, music takes the role of handmaiden to other subjects without teaching the basic music elements. Music educators have special challenges and opportunities when considering integrated curricula. It may be that they do not share enough time to plan for integrating curricula with other teachers. Perhaps it is useful to discuss some ways in which music educators can think about the integration in their setting as springboards. This study concerns how elementary general music instruction can connect with core curriculum subjects, especially language skills, without sacrificing the basic music concepts in order to teach in the larger context of curriculum.
