20세기 프랑스 가곡의 맥락적 이해 -아더 오네거의 ‘거리의 연주자들’을 중심으로

Contextual Understanding of Twentieth Century French Art Song: Arthur Honegger s Saltimbanques

본 연구는 대학에서 성악을 연구하는 학생들과 성악 연주자들의 레퍼토리를 위한 20세기 프랑스 예술가곡으로 아더 오네 거의 ‘거리의 연주자들’(Saltimbanques)을 소개하고 한 시대의 역사, 사회, 문화적 콘텐츠를 담고 있는 예술가곡의 깊이 있는 이해와 효율적 학습, 그리고 연주를 위한 맥락적인 접근을 시도해 보았다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은 먼저 음악의 맥락적인 이해와 예술가곡 속에 내재된 맥락성을 고찰해 보고 본 가곡에 대한 맥락적 접근 방식으로 문화적 배경과 텍스트인 시, 그리고 음악적 스타일을 연구하였다.

The purpose of this study to explore and investigate the twentieth century French art song, “Saltimbanques”, by Arthur Honegger(1892-1955) based on the David Elliot s point of view, “Music in Context”. Elliot insists that the music has to be understood in their historical, cultural, and social context because musical works are products that influenced by these contextual backgrounds. Especially, art song is a combination of music and text, which represent these cultural context of that period. Therefore, performers and students and listeners need to consider these ‘contextual aspects of art songs that possess different era and culture. This study presents the analysis of “Saltimbanques” in terms of cultural backgrounds, the text(a poem), and musical style. Through this study, Voice students and performers can understand this art song in depth in cultural influence and musical characteristics of early twentieth century in France.
