A experimental study for the development of the tutoring plan by stages in the choral education : targeting of the elementary school teachers-to-be

The aim of this study is to revaluate the choral activity and to develop the tutoring plan by stages. Singing is the most commonly practiced activity specially in the elementary level of the classrooms. Also music textbooks, used for the class music activities, songs are presented significant percentages of the content. The choral songs, including over 2 voice parts, are getting higher in its importance and also in its number according to children s grades. Therefore, it is necessary and important to develop a scientific and systematic method on choral education in both aspects of teaching it and learning it. In this study, targeting of the first year elementary school teachers-to-be in Cheongju National University of Education, let them experience the whole process to accomplish the choral work. The goal of this study is to generalize the common stages of the choral activity based on recordings of lessons with each choral teams consisting of between 4 and 8 participants, interviews with them, and daily activity plans written by each participated teams in this case study. Study has been continued for one semester(15 weeks) including 3 choral lessons for each teams. Hopefully it helps understand better as a teacher and at the same time as a learner of the choral music and gives a chance to enjoy music ultimately.
