A Study on the Choral Programing Technique Based on the Cyclic Form

The mood and character of a vocal concert such as choral music, become clear by a programing plan and technique. With the program made up with the pieces, collected thoughtlessly, and arranged in non-functional ways, a clear concert-concept never can be achieved nor efficiently displayed in the choir. This study illuminates the choral program based on the cyclic form with a historic and theoretical background. A choral cycle is a group of individual choral pieces, unified in ways such as text, tonal relationships, tempo, beat, and tessitura. The cycle is not only intended to be performed together, but also to be programmed separately. Considering unity and variety, the cyclic techniques are modeled by the classical sonata and Baroque suite in this study.
