Central pontine myelinolysis (CPM ) is one of neurologic diseases occuring after rapid correction of hyponatrem ia. Neurologic symptoms of CPM may mimic psychologic symptoms of psychiatric disorders, warning us to be careful in differential diagnosis, especially when the patient has already has had psychiatric diagnosis. The authors report two cases of CPM , otherwise would have been misdiagnosed as psychiatric disorders. We suggest that when psychiatric evaluation is reguested in patients with sodium supplementation, the diagnosis of CPM should be kept in mind.
